Researchers and students at the University of Lisbon involved in the College on Polar and Extreme Environments – POLAR2E(*) can benefit from supported accommodation at the Lagoa Comprida House for continuous periods of up to 1 week in the framework of the Collaboration with the Pais Family and the Estrela Global UNESCO Geopark. The main objective is to use the facilities to support research in the region, but other stays related to Polar and Extreme Environment research may be accommodated (eg. short courses, science retreats, etc.).

🏔 A fantastic setting at 1,600 m altitude in the
glacial landscape of the Estrela Plateau.

🛏 12 beds.
🍳 Kitchen and kitchenware.
🚽 Toilets.
🚿 Shower restrictions may apply.
💡 220 V Power supply with some limitations
(PV panels & batteries).
🛜 Limited Internet connection availability.
🥸 Technical support from the housekeeper.
You need to:
🚶 Travel light and access by walking along a
scenic non-paved road (approx. 25 minutes
from Parking lot at Lagoa Comprida).
🍴 Self-catering (teams bring food; cooking by
participants).
🛌 Sleeping bags and personal towels required.
📜 Respect house rules ensure a respectful
environment.
🖊 Sign a declaration of commitment on house
rules.
👮 Permits by the ICNF may apply.
⚠ Accommodation depends on room availability.
Project feasibility will be evaluated by the Board of
Directors of POLAR2E and depend on room availability.
